When I moved to New York City in June of 2000, I was one year out of graduate school, my engagement had just ended, and I was starting a new job at the Museum of Modern Art as a studio photographer. Knowing full well that one’s impression of a given place is strongest early on, I vowed to carry my camera daily to capture the events and details of the city which I would surely encounter. These images are a small sampling of what I experienced on my daily commute, and explorations throughout the area.
