It sure was a busy evening for most of the All Stars. It was impossible for most of them to even get one leg into the suit furnished and every tailor in town will be kept busy today letting out seams, etc., in order to make the suits large enough. It sure was a pretty sight to see Babe Melgs, who weighs about 295 pounds, trying to get into a pair of pants which rightfully belonged to a 16-year-old boy. At the other side of the room Kershaw was calling for assistance in trying to get off a pair of pants that had been pulled on by four men. Poor Robinson was kept busy with his fast car going all over the city looking for suits. When at last things became quiet they went through a signal practice and did pretty good.A. R. Callander, the official water boy, is looking for an able assistant, as he expects to be very busy. He was seen yesterday taking a pair of old shoes over to get cleats put on so he can get a fast start when called upon.Mr. Montgomery will lead about fifteen men in what is called the football tango. This will be between the second and third quarters and will afford great fun for the crowd. Several well known people will assist him, such as John Miller, Eve Olson, Edward Riley, E. J. Birkett, W. H. Stearns, W. F. Sawyer, W. Ramsey, R. Coleman, Dougal Campbell, Robert Bell, George Sewall, P. Lui and O. Z. Olin. This feature alone will be worth going many miles to see, for from all reports they have practiced every night for nearly a week.Several other stunts will be pulled off by such well known fun makers as E. J. Stormer, C. E. Sawyer, H. R. Ticknor, F. R. Pettit and W. H. Stearns.Just before the game is called there will be a hush and E. J. Birkett and E. Riley will stand up on a huge box and sing the famous duet, “Picking Sea Shells From the Shore.” This is a pathetic little song and should be well received. Many more things will be arranged to amuse the crowd during the intermission, and it is hoped that every good booster in Racine will be there to make this a day to be long remembered. The line-ups will be as follows:All Stars and Heavyweights—Bush (200), end; Pettit (190), end; Kendall (180), tackle; Mainland (180), tackle; Ruzicka (235), guard; Lui (240), guard; Reiman (220), center; Zirbes (160), quarterback; Crouse (200) and Judson (190), halfback; Migga (225) and Smith (190), halfback; Robinson (170), fullback.Racine Regulars—Dietrich (140), and Melvin (152), end; Hegeman (155) and Cole (150), end; Thoenniis (163), tackle; Ritz (218), tackle; Conrady (165) and Roselle (164), guard; Rasmussen (182) and Adams (170), guard; Seeley (170), center; Maxted (147), captain, quarterback; Ray (152) and Evenson (157), halfback; Ratchford (158), halfback; Kelly (170), fullback.

" class="wp-image-6364" srcset="http://www.vindustries.com/racinehistory/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/The_Journal_Times_1913_12_06_13-football-at-the-college-212x1024.jpg 212w, http://www.vindustries.com/racinehistory/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/The_Journal_Times_1913_12_06_13-football-at-the-college-62x300.jpg 62w, http://www.vindustries.com/racinehistory/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/The_Journal_Times_1913_12_06_13-football-at-the-college-768x3715.jpg 768w, http://www.vindustries.com/racinehistory/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/The_Journal_Times_1913_12_06_13-football-at-the-college-318x1536.jpg 318w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 212px) 100vw, 212px" />
December 6, 1913.
