Treasures of Horlick Family Placed On Sale

An estimated 3,000 treasures bought with funds from the Horlick Malted Milk fortune and now appraised at $300,000 were to be placed on sale here today.

Most of the belonged to Mrs. Maybelle Horlick Sidley, heiress to a large portion of the family fortune who died three and one-half years ago. She left an estate estimated at $4,000,000.

Many of the treasures came from the Oaks, the white Sidley mansion at Racine. Others were brought from a Miami, Fla., home.

Included were "The Rising Of the Moon", a painting by George Innes, appraised at $20,000, a Victorian rosewood bed which at one time belonged to Gen. Robert E. Lee; a silk horse blanket made for the coronation of Czar Nicholas II of Russia; a pair of chandeliers from Thomas Jefferson's home Monticello, and Mrs. Sidley's wedding dress made of Brussels lace.

Oriental rugs, Georgian silver, Sheffield place, tapestries and rare books also were counted among the items place on sale.
