Frequently Asked Questions1.) Can anyone use your facilities and come to your sponsored programs?
Yes. All of the DeKoven Center facilities and programs are open to the public. Email us to request a Program Brochure to see what is coming up.
2.) How much does it cost to have an event?
It depends on what rooms you wish to use, whether you want our food service, or you provide it yourself, and how many are staying overnight. Email us to request a Rate Sheet.
3.) May I come to Taylor Hall for an overnight stay on my own, or send a friend who desires to getaway for retreat?
Yes, by all means. We even have a mini-hermitage called, The Gables, where you may stay and cook on your own. We request a $25.00 per night for stays under a week.
4.) Are the rates for your facilities and events any less for local residents?
We are flexible. We have day rates for our sponsored programs and will work with you on personalized rates for your function.
5.) May I have a Social Event in Taylor Hall?
Absolutely. We host breakasts, luncheons, dinners, weddings, receptions, graduation parties, bridal and baby showers in our elegant rooms. We have a piano available.
6.) Do you provide Food Service, or do we need to hire our own Caterer?
Although you may want to hire your own caterer, we do have our own food service, which provides robust home cooked meals. Email us to request a Sample Menu.
7.) Are alcoholic beverages permitted.
Yes, you may bring your own.
8.) Can my business hold a meeting at DeKoven?
Yes. Every week we host meetings of all sorts for area businesses. We have four large meeting areas, numerous break out rooms, two dining areas, a snack room, VCR, flipcharts, slide projector, continental breakfasts, and luncheons.
9.) Can my group use the Gymnasium and the Swimming Pool?
Yes. Let us know your needs, and we will work with you to make these facilities available.
10.) What about personal and family gatherings?
We invite family dinners and parties, family reunions, and weddings. The best part is that you and your family may spend a night (or several nights) in Taylor Hall! The Lower Level is especially nice for family holiday dinners and birthdays.
11.) Can my Church use your facility for a meeting or retreat?
Our facilities are used by religious groups of all faiths. Just let us know what date you would like. We have two Chapels, two Pipe Organs, a Piano, a large Library, a well stocked religious Bookstore, Hymnals, Bibles, and Prayer-books.
12.) Do you ever allow youth groups to use Taylor Hall?
Yes, as long as the group is properly chaperoned. We have many youth groups come stay with us year round. We have two floors of rooms and separate bathroom facilities.
13.) How many can you house overnight?
We can accomodate 60 in double rooms and 40 in single rooms.
14.) May I shop in your Bookstore anytime? Yes, any weekday. Just call ahead and go on down, it is run on the honor system.
15.) Is it alright to bring friends over for a tour? Is there a charge?
We really love giving tours. We ask that you call ahead to set up the day and time. For a full tour of the historic facility, we ask for a donation per person. If advance notice is given, we can arrange a Special Art and Antiques Tour. Email now to set up your tour.
16.) Which dates are usually booked the most frequently?
Weekends are the busiest, so contact us us well in advance of the date you wish to reserve.
