A Place of Celebration Set in the center of the DeKoven campus, St. John's Chapel was built in 1864 and for over 50 years served as the chapel for the students and faculty of Racine College. Since that time, St. John's has welcomed wedding guests, retreatants, and various communities in prayer. St. John's also welcomes visitors to the shrine of Blessed James DeKoven located to the east of the main chapel entrance. The Sovereign Millitary Order of the Temple of Jerusalem, Autonomous Grand Priory of the United States of America, Priory of St. John the Baptist contributes to the richness of the DeKoven community during annual work days and annual Convent and Investiture. The original carved wooden pews in choir form can accomodate up to 150 people. A fine pipe organ is located in the choir loft at the west end of the chapel. St. John's beautiful Belgian Stained glass windows and vaulted ceiling provide a striking and historic atmosphere for weddings and other special events throughout the year. |
