The Thread of LearningThe DeKoven Center, on the campus of the old Racine College founded in 1852, announces the release of its new video, THE THREAD OF LEARNING-The Story of Racine College and The DeKoven Center, a professionally researched and produced film approximately 15 minutes in length, with historic footage, interviews, and dramatic, colorful scenes of buildings and gardens. The video was the brain-child of historian and preservationist Barbara Walter and was made possible by generous grants from The Palmer and L.C. Christensen Foundations and the creative work of the oversight committee: Mrs. Walter, Jerry Cross, Norm McPhee, and Travis Du Priest. The video was compiled and edited by Lisa Gildehaus of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The purpose of the video is to educate - both youth and adults - as well as to orient visitors and tour groups to The DeKoven Center about the extraordinary history of Racine College and the thread of education that continues at The DeKoven Center today. We also hope that the video will spark interest in the exceptional architectural treasures of The DeKoven Center - nine buildings of unified style and building materials on the National Register of Historic Places! In the spirit of the old college motto, Vigeat Radix, May the root thrive!
Greetings to all of you who care for DeKoven, Travis du Priest, Director
