Lamberton

Have you heard of Lamberton, Wisconsin? It was a small community around the Lamberton Post Office in the northeast corner of Caledonia. The post office was active from 1856 to 1921.

Here is some community news from the Racine Journal Times, May 7, 1934: Lamberton LAMBERTON, Wis., May 3.—At Lamberton Community club’s public card party at the Douglas Brown home last Friday evening, prizes in schafkopf were awarded as follows: First, Russell Mikulesky; second, Edward Sanders and J. W. Mikulesky; third, Mrs. Ethel Smerchek and Mrs. Fred Hassel; in 500, Miss Elvira Mohrbacker, first; Mildred Botting, second. Mrs. V. Dvorchek and Mrs. Olive Smerchek also won prizes. Lunch was served. Russell Mikulesky was pleasantly surprised on his birthday Saturday evening. Cards were played, a gift was presented, and lunch served to Marjorie Makovsky, Virginia Mikulesky, Bernice Smerchek, Harold Sievers, Eddie Makovsky, Leo Pucely, George, Arnold, Emil and Louis Kaplan, Howard Danek, Daniel Smerchek, Vince Proska, Jerry Duster, Jerome Mikulesky and Elmer Pishny. Oljineks sold their property at public auction on Saturday, and will move to Milwaukee. The farm now will be under operation of the owner, John Danek. Mrs. Charles Kaisler entertained the Tabor Turner volley ball team on Wednesday night at her home. Fifty and other games were enjoyed, prizes going to Virginia Mikulesky, Sylvia Dolezal, Alice Nelson and Marjorie Makovsky. Other guests were Adeline Stritesky, Grace Dolezal, Elsie Horak, Elsie Kaplan, Vickie Pucely, Dorothy Schimming and Theresa Wadsworth. Lunch was served. Mrs. James Botting held a committee meeting on Tuesday evening, when ideas were presented and discussed for the May meeting of Lamberton Community club. Lunch was served to Genevieve Sands, Hazel Haack, Douglas Brown, Mrs. August Sievers, Robert Noll Jr., and Edward Schacht.
