Gloede’s Tavern, 1935-1964

Doug Chaussee: I was honored to get this photo spread from the granddaughter of Louie and Anna Gloede who owned and operated the tavern / gas station at the corner of 3 Mile and Main St. I moved to that area in 1959 and was in the store many times buying soda and snacks and was allowed to look thru the coins in the cash register for my collection. These wonderful interior and exterior shots took me back to those days. All of the buildings shown are now gone except for the homes on the south side of 3 Mile. Photos are from the 50’s to about 1965. [ed.: Gloede rhymes with “lady”.]
