Prudhom’s on Main Street

Michael R. Prudhom: My dad’s bar from the golden age of “Go Go Girls”. It was the late 60’s-early 70’s.

Michael R. Prudhom: Tubby’s had strippers. Prudhom’s on Main had Go Go Dancers. That was the main difference. And laws established to curtail Strip Club eventually led to my dad’s place closing. Things like minimum distance from stage to the bar.

Jeannie Schneider: The girls would come to the American Beauty College to get their hair done… interesting street clothes they would wear.

Michael R. Prudhom: Very little survived. I remember having matchbooks and coasters at one point. It had a kitchen (deep fryers and a grill). They served lunch to workers from MAAMCO(?) and other downtown businesses before the dancing craze. I remember the cook was Jacob McIntyre VanVaalkanberg (spelling ?)
