Leth, Phone 737. 1519 12 St.January 17, 1919: Christenson, J., 1519 Twelfth St.June 8, 1926: Held for Assault. — Robert Gustavson, 1519 Twelfth street, was arrested on an assualt and battery charge on Monday on complain of Adam Anderson. Mr. Anderson alleges that Gustavson struck him in the face with a hammer on May 28. The man’s face is still swollen from the impact of the blow. Gustavson pleaded not guilty when arraigned in municipal court this morning and demanded a jury trial which will be held on Wednesday.July 19, 1928: Soft Drink Parlor — For Sale: also nickel electric piano. Call Jackson 1319 or 1519 12th St.October 4, 1926: Mrs. Emil Voll, who was driving with her husband, Emil Voll, 1519 Twelfth street, Saturday afternoon received slight lacerations on her face when their auto left the road at the Case South works, just sound of the city on the Kenosha road. The car crashed into the gate at the driveway leading into the Case property. With the Volls was Frank Ribas, 1511 Twelfth street, who was uninjured. By candlelight, Rev. Carl B. Kionka read the marriage service on Saturday at 7:30 p. m. at the home of Mrs. Mary Nehring, 1928 Racine street, when Mrs. Nehring’s son, Theodore Hanby, took as his bride Miss Bernadette Larrin, 2214 Washington avenue, daughter of Peter Larrin, 1519 Twelfth street.November 18, 1940: Henry Larrin, 51, of 1519 12th Street, died at 11:30 a. m. Saturday in the Veterans hospital at Wood. Mr. Larrin, who was born in Michigan July 22, 1889, lived in Racine for 18 years. He service over seas for 18 months as a member of the thirty-second division in Siberia and France. Survivors are his father, Peter; three brothers, Victor, Clement and Joseph and three sisters, Mrs. Genevieve Babrowski, Mrs. Theodore Hanby and Mrs. Evelyn Langenfeld. All are of Racine. Funeral services will be held at 9 a. m. Tuesday in Christiansen’s Funderal chapel. Burial will be in the American Legion plot in Graceland cemetery. The body may be viewed tonight in the funeral home.September 7, 1946: Although Struck and knocked down by an automobile at Herrick Ave. and Twelfth St. Friday, Peter Larrin, of 1519 Twelfth St., apparent escaped injury. According to police reports, Fred Seeger of 224 Twelfth St. was driving south on Herrick Ave. and made a left turn into Twelfth St., his front fender striking the pedestrian. Dial 2-5346 or call at 1519 12th St.June 9, 1952: Nab Boy Gang, Solve Burglary. Questioning of three teen-age boys Saturday night who were found in Downtown Racine carrying around full fifth of whisky and wine in their pockets has solved the burglary of a tavern by a teen-age gang. The boys, on questioning at the police station, first told police they found the wine and whisky in an abandoned automobile. Later they changed their story and said they got it from other boys. Meanwhile, Vic Larrin reported to police that his tavern at 1519 Twelfth St. had been broken into Saturday night and a case of whisky and wine stolen. Police Sunday rounded up 10 boys, 14 to 16 years old, who were involved. They have been turned over to juvenile authorities.August 22, 1956: V & L Television Service Technicians. Schommer, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Schommer, 1517 Twelfth St. No wedding date has been set. A/3c Schommer is stationed at Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois, service with the U. S. Air Force.September 20, 1957 marriage licenses: Norman R. Schommer, 1517 12th St., and Yvonne I. Larrin, 1519 12th St.October 6, 1957: Schommer-Larrin Nuptials Read. Norman Schommer, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Schommer, 1517 12th St., claimed Yvonne Larrin, daughter of MR. and Mrs. Vic Larrin, 1519 12th St., as his bride on September 21. Rev. Dan J. Garvey officiated the 9 a.m. ceremony in St. Rose Church. The former Miss Larrin appeared in a gown of Chantilly lace and tulle. The bouffant skirt, formed of tiers of tulle ruffles, was topped by a contoured basquet with sweet-heart neckline. Iridescent sequins dotted the matching lace headpiece to which her illusion veil was gathered. She carried a cascade of white pompons and pink demure roses with a white orchid as her father gave her in marriage. Street length dresses of net and lace over taffeta were worn by the attendants. Gloria Jean Deno, wearing a pastel blue, was maid of honor and Mrs. Clifford Andersen and Janet LeAir, in pink ensembles, served as bridesmaids. Also frocked in pink were the flower girls, Susan and Sharon Goulet, while the miniature bride, Rosemary Gomez, wore a replica of the bride’s costume. Joseph Gomez was best man. Clifford Andersen and Dick Whalen were groomsmen and Jonas Schommer and Vic Deno ushered. Richard Schommer appeared as the miniature bridegroom. A reception was held in the evening at Club Lathrop. The Schommers are making their home at 1128 Lockwood Ave.March 14, 1958: Because of Illness, Vic Larrin Tavern, 1519-12th Street Is For Sale. Has Always Been a Good Income Producer. No Phone Calls Please. N. Christensen & Son. 1354 State St., Racine, Wisconsin.March 30, 1958: Larrin, 52, Dies. Victor Larrin, 52, of 1519 12th St., died Saturday night at St. Mary’s Hospital. Funeral arrangements are pending. March 31, 1958: Larrin, Victor C., 1519-12th St. Age 52. Passed away March 29, 1958, in St. Mary’s Hospital. Born in Hyde, Michigan, on May 9, 1905, Mr. Larrin had lived in Racine since 1919. He had operated a tavern at 1519 12th St. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Tavern League Association. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Irene (Urban) Larrin; one daughter, Mrs. Norman (Yvonne) Schommer; one brother, Joseph, both of Racine; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur Langenfeld of Racine, Mrs. Theo. Hanby of Santa Cruz, Calif. and Mrs. Gen Birkrem of Orlando, Fla.; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 8:30 a.m., in the Maresh Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church. Msgr. Edw. J. Rodenkirch officiating. Interment will be Holy Cross Cemetery, Highway 32. Friends may call at the Maresh Funeral Home, Main at Eighth St., Tuesday afternoon after 2 o’clock. The Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening, 7 o’clock.April 18, 1958: The following applications for Class “B” Retail Intoxicating Liquor and Fermented Malt Beverage License: Hugo R. Stavenau, 1845 Racine street, Peter Cepukenas Jr., 1519 12th street.June 10, 1958: Ordered to serve a 30-day sentence at hard labor was Annie Mae Hill, 34, of 1401 11th St. Police said a .32 calibre pistol fell from her purse while she was struggling with another woman at a tavern at 1519 12th St. Friday afternoon.November 23, 1960: Owner of the Twelfth Street Tap, 1519 12th St., Peter Cepukenas, has reported to police that six bottles of liquor and $12 in coins were removed from the tavern sometime Monday night. Mrs. Irene Larrin, who lives above the tavern, discovered a broken window and an open door into the tavern early Tuesday morning.February 21, 1963: Tavern Owner, Cepukenas, Dies. Peter P. Cepukenas, 49, of 1211 10th St., owner of two Racine taverns, died Wednesday at St. Mary’s Hospital. Cepukenas operated the 12th St. Tap, 1519 12th St., and Mr. Pete’s Tavern, 1446 Frederick St. He is survived by his wife, Muriel; one daughter, Ann; two sons, Peter J. and Dean; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Cepukenas Sr., all of Racine; two sisters, Mrs. Raymond Mohrbacker of Racine and Mrs. Joseph Saulys of Kenosha; a brother, Albert, of Racine.
